Do you love your community?  Do you want to influence the vision and direction of the Town of Ignacio?  Now you can!  There are multiple openings on the Planning Commission and Board of Adjustment.  To learn more about these two opportunities, please visit our website (townofignacio.colorado.gov), hover your mouse over Town Departments / Planning Department, and select the designated link.  You can download an application HERE or from the Applications, Forms and Licenses page of our website.  Once your completed application is received, it will be submitted to the Town Board for review.  Individuals who currently own a business or property within Ignacio town limits, but do not live within the town limits, can still serve.  You will be notified when your application is up for review, as the Town Board will want to talk with you.  If you have any questions, please contact Town Hall.

Natural Gas Pricing & Utility Billing

The Town of Ignacio has received notice that the San Juan Basin Natural Gas Pricing is increasing dramatically.  The Southern Ute Utilities Division informed the Town of this rate increase, and provided some information on the basis for the increase.  To read the complete memo from the Town that includes the information from the Tribe, please click HERE.

The Town Board held a duly noticed Public Hearing on Monday, February 13, 2023 at 6 PM during the Regular Town Board Meeting to allow for comments on the proposed rate structure change for Natural Gas.  The Board voted unanimously to make the following changes to the Natural Gas Rate Structure for 2023.

  • The gas rate will be billed at $16/MCF.
  • The 10% Capital Factor will be waived as long as the SUUD rate is above $10/MCF.  Should the SUUD rate drop to $10/MCF or lower, the 10% Capital Factor will be applied.
  • The Board will have the authority, without the need for a Public Hearing, to adjust the natural gas rate (increase or decrease) to cover unanticipated rate adjustments throughout the year.
  • For the months of January through March, there will be no late fees assessed and no disconnection of utilities or reconnect fees charged to any account.
  • Starting in April of 2023, accounts with outstanding balances will one again be assessed late fees.
  • Starting in May of 2023, all accounts that are past due will once again be subject to disconnection of services and assessment of reconnect fees.

If you have any questions, please call Town Hall during regular business hours at 970-563-9494.
