Progress Since Our Last Update

Progress includes:

  • Hired a consultant (CGDA) to assist us with accessibility work.
  • Trained staff on website and document accessibility fundamentals.
  • Added an accessibility statement to our website.
  • Remediated critical accessibility errors on the Town of Ignacio website.
  • Created accessible templates for the Town Board Packets
  • Began retroactively bringing the Town’s documents into compliance or creating alternative versions.
  • Created an ACR for the Town of Ignacio website (Accessibility Conformance Report).

Challenges include:

  • Limited resources and budget. We currently do not have an IT person on staff.
  • Allocating time to learning about accessibility and understanding how to apply this knowledge and remediate our digital properties.

How We Are Implementing Accessibility

The Town of Ignacio is committed to providing equitable access to all Coloradans. To that end, The Town of Ignacio has a plan to prioritize, evaluate, remediate and continuously improve digital touchpoints within our services, programs and activities. We are incorporating accessibility into our day-to-day work. Below, you’ll find some of the measures that The Town of Ignacio is undertaking.

  • We have started working with an accessibility consultant (CGDA) to assist us in prioritizing and executing website and document remediation and helping achieve compliance.
  • CGDA is providing our staff with training to ensure that any new documents and webpages are WCAG compliant.
  • Website remediation is currently in progress and critical errors have been addressed.
  • We have created an ACR (Accessibility Conformance Report) to understand how our website conforms with WCAG guidelines.
  • Create and implement a plan for providing reasonable accommodations and modifications, which includes preparing our staff to respond to requests for assistance.
  • Provide contact information for people to give us accessibility feedback and request reasonable accommodations or modifications.
